Choosing the Right Alloy Wheels for Your MG
Everything to consider when upgrading to aftermarket alloy wheels on your MG.
Understand Wheel Specifications
Key specs: diameter (inches), width (J), PCD (bolt pattern), offset (ET), and center bore. Your MG owner manual lists the factory specifications.
Match the PCD
PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) must match exactly. MG Hector uses 5x114.3, while Comet EV uses 4x100. Never use mismatched PCD.
Choose the Right Size
Larger wheels look great but may affect ride comfort and range (on EVs). Going up one inch from factory is generally safe.
Pro Tip: For EVs, stick closer to factory size to preserve range efficiency.
Material Matters
Cast alloy is affordable and durable. Forged alloy is lighter and stronger but costs more. Flow-formed offers a middle ground.
Professional Installation
Always get alloy wheels installed and balanced at an MG service center. This ensures proper torque specifications and alignment.
